Match Report - Sweet FC v EA Devs

Check out the official match report as our very own Xbox Community Pro Club Team, Sweet FC, played the EA Devs on Friday night and pulled off a credible draw...

Sweet FC : Our very own Pro Club Team
Sweet FC

Sweeet FC were missing a few first team players for this game against the EA Development Team, so called up Crazy James and Dancon to fill in as a centre back pairing and also Mr Smith to come in at left back. Bazza made his Sweet FC debut, as Sweet FC fielded what looked a strong team:

Prior to the game Sweeet FC decided they needed a friendly to warm up, and dispatched of their opponents Marine City FC easily, 7-0 at half time, when they decided to quit.

This left confidence high going into their game against EA SPORTS FC and, despite the issue of some quite bad lag, Sweeet FC started brightly, with Reidy finding Alan with a through ball in the opening minutes, only for the one-on-one to be well saved. There wasn't long to wait before Sweeet FC took the lead though, with Alan and Greg linking up well up front to give them a one goal advantage as Greg smashed the ball home after 10 minutes.

After this the dynamics of the game changed, with EA SPORTS FC very much on the front foot. Sweeet FC struggling to maintain possession, resulting in wave after wave of EA attacks. The fledgling back 4 were able to repel most of what was thrown at them, but the clearances were generally falling to EA players as Sweeet FC fell deeper and deeper and invited more pressure on themselves. Like a boxer against the ropes, Sweeet FC were in desperate need of that bell to ring, so that they could regroup at half time, but in injury time of the first half EA's pressure told, as they managed to score an equaliser to send the teams in 1-1 at half time.

EA started the second half very much as they finished the first, and started strongly. However Sweeet were now keeping the ball much better, getting it out wide and producing lots of crosses into the box. Just as Sweeet looked to be regaining the upper hand in the tie, EA managed to break away, and take the lead; 2-1.

However this lead was short lived, as Sweeet FC went straight up from the kick off to equalize. Greg laying it off to Reidy, Reidy playing in Greg and Greg then playing Alan in through on goal to level the match at 2-2.

The final few minutes produced some end to end play, with EA hitting the crossbar, but Sweeet FC thought they must have won it when they had the ball in the net after 85 minutes. Dan following in a parried effort, only for an offside Reid to poke it in on the line and be adjudged offside. Reidy will surely struggle to live this one down!

Anyway, all things considered, I think everybody had a lot of fun playing 10v10, indeed everyone was quite happy when the achievement flashed up. Hopefully we can play more in the future, and sort out our positioning a bit more!
