I had to share this with you to sign off 2013 after watching it on Sky Sports last night and I was left very touched by how professional footballers can make a real difference to the life of a very special young man. Courtesy of Sky Sports News, Football-mad Oran Tully met his idol John Terry and the rest of the Chelsea squad during a festive edition of My Special Day.
In Episode 3 we sign the PFA chairman, Clarke Carlisle, who has recently come out against the duration of Terry’s ban. Of course, Carlisle is also a CB so we need the two to gel quickly. Terry will also have to use every trick in the book to overcome a side made up of several Chelsea players. However, if he can see his side through the tough times, he could be well on his way to carving out a positive reputation for himself. We’ve seen Road to Glory style series before, but few have had such a purpose. John Terry has developed a reputation for himself over the last few seasons. It isn’t unjustified of course, but now he hopes to use a FIFA 13 Ultimate Team series to redevelop his reputation and reclaim his good name. In Terry’s Road to Redemption, he plans to become a central figure in a successful team made up of black players. As I ask in the intro, “Is it a good idea?” Well it’s certainly an idea and Terry needs all the positive press he can get! I hope you all enjoy and join me, and Terry of course, on the journey ahead.
