The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) has just surpassed 1.6 million players participating in the annual tournament. Following the first ever FIWC in 2004, the tournament has grown significantly and in 2010 secured its place in the Guinness World Records as the largest online gaming tournament. This year’s FIWC only kicked-off in October and in just less than three months has attracted a staggering 300,000 more players than participated in last year’s entire event, breaking its own world record.
If you missed this last weekend during insomnia47, the German Kai Wolin (24) won a thrilling final of the World Cyber Games gold medal in the FIFA 12 finale. He beat Poland’s Bartosz 2-1 and defended his world championship title.
