From 6-8 May The FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 (FWC13) Grand Final took place in Madrid. Over the course of the three-day tournament 21 Grand Finalists will play EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 on the PlayStation®3 in the hopes of becoming the new interactive world champion. We bring you all the very latest news in the build up and live from the event.
As we continue our FIWC day, here are the seven finalists in the FIFA Interactive World Cup Best Celebration Contest, and YOU can vote on which three will go to the FIWC Grand Final in Madrid. The ultimate winner, as selected by users during the final, will be immortalized at EA SPORTS™ motion capture studio in Vancouver, Canada.

Congratulations to Kai Wollin as he secured his second consecutive national title and his seat at the FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final with victory in the Germanany Territory Showdown held on 17th April at the home of his favourite team, Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund. As we reported yesterday, the Spanish Territory Showdown for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 took place at the home of Valencia Football Club on 4 April, and there was an upset on the road to the Grand Final after one player rage quit before half-time. With online qualification wrapped up and only one Territory Showdown remaining next month’s FIWC13 Grand Final is rapidly approaching. Territory Showdowns
Territory Showdowns are an exciting new qualification method for the FIFA Interactive World Cup. At a Territory Showdown, the previous year’s national champion is joined by the best three online players from his country for a high-stakes live competition. The winner of a Territory Showdown will receive a seat at the FIWC13 Grand Final.
Congratulations to Maximo Ibanez as he secured his first ever seat at a FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final with victory in the Spain Territory Showdown held on 4 April at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia.

Congratulations to underdog George “TheGreek” Tsirita who was crowned the FIWC FIFA 13 UK Champion tonight beating Ty Walton 3v2 in the Final of the UK Territory Showdown. Watch the event from comfort of your own home, no matter where you are in the world! The FIWC will be streaming the entire UK Territory Showdown. The Live Stream will begin at 5pm (GMT)/6pm (CET) and end at 7pm (GMT) 8pm (CET) on 12 March.
The 2012 FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) winner, Alfonso Ramos, 24, lived every football fan’s dream when he attended the FIFA Ballon d’Or gala, where he met a host of the world’s top footballers and took on Barcelona star Gerard Pique at a game of FIFA 13. Follow Alfonso as he meets the biggest stars in the game – teaching Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi a thing or two along the way as he is welcomed at the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) has just surpassed 1.6 million players participating in the annual tournament. Following the first ever FIWC in 2004, the tournament has grown significantly and in 2010 secured its place in the Guinness World Records as the largest online gaming tournament. This year’s FIWC only kicked-off in October and in just less than three months has attracted a staggering 300,000 more players than participated in last year’s entire event, breaking its own world record.
